So, I’ve started my 12-week fitness challenge over yet again. I’m really tired of saying that sentence, to be honest. But this time, the heat is on. Mostly because I would love to be at my goal weight by my birthday, which is in July.
Not to mention the fact that I want to prove a certain YouTuber absolutely wrong when it comes to calorie burn. The details about that will be in a future video if I can stay the course this time around.
Technically, I’m starting the 12-week fitness challenge today. But, I have only 11 weeks until my birthday. I’ll still follow through with the entire 12-week stretch. But, I want to get as close as I can with what time I have left.
What Fun Am I Doing This Week?
Well, I have a few new toys to add to my home workout equipment. I have the Zaaz set up in the living room and the Stealth board for planking games, which I plan on doing a review about soon.
The idea is to make sure that I surpass at burning 3500 calories per day according to my Fitbit data. As I’ve mentioned in the past, this is just two sessions of playing Xbox Kinect games and a 10-minute walk throughout the entire day in most cases.
Then, I stick to my Net 600 Calorie diet, which means I’ll probably wind up eating around 1700 to 1800 calories per day. This is because the diet focuses on burn vs intake.
But, I’m kind of excited to give the Stealth and the Zaaz a try over the next couple of weeks. I’m all about gamifying fitness. And if there are some fun games on the Stealth board, I’m sure I’ll get some rock-solid abs.
Well, as long as I keep playing and be determined to reach my goals this time around.
What Do I Need to Do to Lose 40 Pounds in 12 Weeks?
According to my own personal data, because I track everything and am a geek with a spreadsheet, I need to lose 0.48 pounds per day. This means I need to stick to burning twice what I consume.
And I know from past experience, this isn’t all that difficult for me to accomplish.
In fact, I still might be able to reach my goal weight in 11 weeks as that is only 0.52 pounds per day. This means I definitely need to keep every day in the green for MyFitnessPal while making sure I stay active every day.
And being a desk jockey makes this so much more difficult. I never go anywhere, have no social life, work and play from my computer, and live a very uneventful lifestyle.
I really need to get out more.
Keeping Myself Motivated
Aside from feeling pretty good about this run, what am I going to do to keep myself motivated every day? What I’ve done in the past really didn’t help much. So, let’s look at each element and see what I can do to improve.
Because personal accountability is extremely difficult for many people.
YouTube Videos
Part of holding myself accountable was going to be through YouTube videos. Well, I’m not sure how much time I have in the day to make an elaborate video, especially since I have several channels and blogs to maintain.
However, the new Shorts feature might be something worth exploring, really.
The biggest problem I have is remembering to make the videos before 10 pm. By then, I’m too tired and not really focused. If I can remember to make them at 8:45 pm, when my alarms go off, I can probably crank out a quick video.
Unfortunately, sometimes my live streams on WriterSanctuary go long on Mondays. And sometimes, I’m up to my eyes in games on Fridays.
Perhaps I’ll have to add them to Asana and make the videos as part of my workday. That way, I would remember to get something up on the YouTube channel.
Another social element I want to use for accountability involves Instagram. I’ve been toying with using it more often over the past couple of weeks, but keep getting invites from crap brands who want to collaborate.
I’m sorry, but if you feel my 20 followers are worth your effort to contact me, your product probably isn’t all that good. And I’m exceptionally anal about what I’ll attach my name to.
Anyway, I’ve been adding Instagram to my daily work routine for WriterSanctuary, and it’s been working out fairly well. Adding CrossingColorado to the mix wouldn’t take much time and I’d remember to upload.
Definitely More Blogging
Every time I start writing about health and fitness, I feel motivated to get up and move. And now that WriterSanctuary is on schedule, I can start diving into this website again.
Besides, I’m still working towards writing one million words in 2021, and I’m a bit behind schedule. I’m not too far back that it would be impossible, but I definitely need to get back into writing more if I want to reach that goal.
This isn’t to mention how I’m excited to review a few things, foods, and equipment to help me reach my fitness goals.
Breaking Personal Records
Today, I’m going to see where I stand with a few bodyweight exercises in terms of personal records. I know that I am probably nowhere near where I used to be because I’m a slacker. But, I need a baseline so I can shatter them before my birthday.
Personally, I currently use Exercise.com to keep track of my records. However, they’ve been doing a lot of weird things to the site, so I might consider finding a new platform.
If you know of an app that keeps track of personal bests when it comes to specific exercises, I’d love to know.
I’m even debating on building my own app. But that’s all I need…something else on my plate throughout the week. But who knows, maybe I’ll create something that becomes popular.
Doubtful. I know me. I barely have time to take care of the things I’m doing now.
Maybe I can make it a weekend project?
11 Weeks? I Can Do This
Well, here we go. I just finished my Emerge and I’m going to go walk the dog. Then, jump in front of the Xbox to play some tennis. Let’s see if I can actually stick to it this time and hit my goals before my birthday.
Because in reality, I am the only one holding myself back. Am I tired enough of being overweight that I’m willing to do something about it?
I guess we’ll see…
Determination will do it every time 🥊🥊😊
Yeah…as long as I can stay determined. lol
Know that I will be working out every day, and I am 73. Enjoyed by boxing today. Check out my video. Maybe that will inspire you 🥊🥊
I’m sure it will. 🙂
