Complications Starting My Challenge

So, I made a challenge for myself as well as anyone else who wanted to join regarding how much weight I can lose in seven days. Unfortunately, I suffered from a terrible flu the day before it was supposed to start. Since then, things went kinda wonky. However, I am feeling much better and am looking forward to this fitness challenge starting next Sunday, January 31st.

Why This Challenge?

I know my blog isn’t as popular as some of the others out there, but I initially created this site for myself. You see, I tend to be more motivated when someone is watching over my shoulder – in this case, it’s you. I want to prove that my ideas to reclaim health are valid. I want to show my daughters that Daddy is more than just a fluffy teddy bear that sits at a desk all day long.

How the Challenge is Going to Work
Every night, I am going to post a new article dictating everything I did in that day. What foods I ate, how much I weighed, any significant exercises I completed and more will be readily available. I’m going to use Buffer to autopost the link on Twitter, Facebook and Google+ the next morning, but the article itself will be up and ready as soon as I complete it. It’s my goal to remain 500 calories in the green according to MyFitnessPal. I am going to use all of the tools in my arsenal, you can see what I use by clicking the above link for “My Tools.”

I know that this is completely dependent on the honor system. You’ll just have to trust me when I accomplish specific tasks. I love accurate data in just about everything in life. I don’t believe in cheating systems such as these because the only one I would really be cheating on is myself. I suppose I am too much of a scientist and greatly enjoy figuring things out.

Following My Progress

This blog will be used to record all of the information I’ve collected throughout the day. However, I also have the Runkeeper widget running on the site and you can visit my MyFitnessPal profile for more information. I’ll also post my Exercise.com profile link at the bottom as well. This way, you can see what I go through each day in order to achieve my goal.

If I remember, I’ll also post the links to my health profiles under each tool mentioned above.

Why Only 7 Days?

I am doing a seven-day routine in order to demonstrate how much you can lose within a week. However, this is more than likely going to turn into a month-long experience as I want to also show you how much weight can be lost in 30 days.

I want to demonstrate how anyone can lose weight without dietary pills, surgeries or following fad diets that crop up all over the Internet. The last time I dedicated myself to this, I lost an average of 10 pounds per month without starving myself of the tasty things I enjoy. It’s a Buddhist approach to eating – it’s all about moderation and portion control.

This week, I am still going to monitor my food and exercise while trying to keep in the green. After all, I have nearly 100 pounds to go and I doubt I’ll lose that by Sunday. Here’s to hoping that I don’t get sick right before the challenge again.
