5 Things I Want to Accomplish in 2025

Health and Fitness in 2025
01 Jan

Well, it’s a new year, and millions of people are throwing in their lot of what they want to accomplish in 2025. I figured I would jump on that bandwagon, but provide plans on how I’m going to do it.

Keep in mind that goals and resolutions mean nothing without effort.

What Are My Goals and Plans for the New Year?

What I have planned for the year is going to take a great deal of work. Thanks to taking time to iron out some edges, though, I think I have a good strategy to make them all happen.

It’s not going to be easy by any stretch of the imagination. But it’s all within my grasp as long as I can maintain a handle on my time management plans.

So, what am I looking forward to in 2025?

Hitting My Goal Weight

As of today, I’m starting a new fitness challenge. I’m focusing on 100 days of fitness while also implementing new ways to gamify it. The hope is that I’ll get into racking up points every day.

At first, I should lose weight relatively quickly. But as I get around the 210 to 215-pound mark, I’ll probably have to change my goals up a bit. Instead of sticking with a fat-burning diet and exercise routine, it’ll have to evolve more around maintenance and reducing body fat percentage.

The bottom line is that I’m tired of being fat and out of shape. I would love to be more active outdoors, other than laying in the sand on the beach waiting for someone to toss me back into the ocean. Besides, getting in shape is going to be the cornerstone of crossing the state of Colorado on a bike.

Keeping the Blog on a Routine Schedule

I’ve mentioned this several times before, but the more I write about weight loss and fitness content for the blog, the better my mindset is regarding health. Currently, I have enough time to publish a minimum of two articles per week. I would also love to update some of the older posts, but that will depend greatly on how much time I have on any given day.

It’s been a long time since this blog was on a routine publishing schedule. It could go a long way to helping me fix it up in terms of visibility in search. But I suppose that also depends on how much grief Google is going to give me thanks to the YMYL updates, which I shouldn’t be hindered by in the first place.

That’s a story for another time, but let’s just say that Google did me dirty back in 2018.

Regardless, I think anyone who follows the blog would appreciate new content each week. I’ve been planning out all kinds of future posts for the site, and with any luck, I might have a guest writer or two.

Start Working to Monetize the YouTube Channel

The YouTube channel is kind of just there at the moment. We don’t do a lot with it outside of the live podcast videos on Tuesdays. But I would love to do more and start working toward getting enough hours to monetize it with ads. It’s not a lot of money, but it’s a start to helping me afford some better gear and whatnot for content.

Now, I’m not saying that I want to be a fitness influencer or one of these douchebags who try to sell supplements and exercise plans. My nature is to help people, and in this case, I would like to show men over the age of 40 that it’s not too late to improve their physical and mental health. Because Sam is with me on the channel, she can also show women over 40 the same thing.

Getting to work on the YouTube channel might take a few weeks, though. I set aside a block of time on Tuesdays, but until I get a decent camera, there’s only so much I’m going to be able to share. But we’re working on some ideas, so there might be at least one regular video each week sometime in January.

Start Training for the Bike Ride

The whole purpose of building this website was to help me get into shape to ride across the state of Colorado on a bicycle, hence the name, “Crossing Colorado.” I would like to start training for that this year, which will probably be after April 11th, when the 100 days of fitness challenge is over.

Some tentative plans involve trading walking time for cycling time at the gym and practice riding across Denver and the metro area. After all, I’m looking at a 280+ mile trip over the span of three days. I might be able to cut some of that down, but I’m also not looking to give myself a heart attack while riding across I-25.

Anyway, as I get closer to the end of the current challenge, I’ll start planning out the next to center around biking. I would also like to figure out how to update the blog and YouTube channel live as I ride so people can keep tabs on where I am.

Getting the Podcast Going Again

Lastly, I would love to get the podcast on various platforms other than YouTube. It’s been a long time since we uploaded anything to Spotify, and there are several others that I wouldn’t mind using.

This goal is probably going to require some help, though. As it stands, I don’t have a block of time available to edit and upload the show to other platforms. Unfortunately, I don’t have the money to pay for help, so I have to rely on the generosity of others, which doesn’t often go very far.

Eh, you get what you pay for, I suppose.

In any case, having the podcast up on various channels and reaching a wider audience will give me the ambition and drive to maintain health and fitness. It goes back to the idea I had before of using a social media presence as a form of accountability. I’m using fans of the show to keep me on my toes.

It All Centers Around Time Management

The biggest contributor to hitting my goals is how well I manage my time. I’ve been working on a lot of strategies for time usage over the last few weeks, and I think I am on to something that will help. It’s all about being less rigid in my workday.

I’m no longer hyper-stressed about not getting things done, I can go to the gym when I want, and I still wind up getting quite a bit of time in my projects.

In the past, if I didn’t get out of the house by 5:45 am, I couldn’t go to the gym at all. That’s because I wouldn’t have time to get in a good workout and be home in time to take my daughter to school. Then, the rest of the day was filled with getting as much done on my other projects as I could.

Nowadays, I don’t worry about the schedule as I can simply make up the time elsewhere, such as in the evenings or during the weekend. Instead of trying to cram what I can in an 8-hour period, I’m trying to be more flexible throughout the week. So, if I can’t get out by 5:45 am, I can go to the gym after taking my daughter to school. Or, perhaps I can go after lunch. I’m not as cemented into a routine as I was in the past.

This is mostly due to the fact that I don’t view what I do as work. I quite enjoy writing blog posts, making videos, and writing books. As long as my client’s work is done for the day, I really don’t have much to stress over as I love creating various forms of content.

What Are Your Goals for 2025?

In the grand scheme of things, I have quite a bit going on this year. From publishing a few books to rebuilding a dead blog, I have my work cut out for me. The trick is to also make time for myself and my health and fitness goals. I’m no good to anyone if I drop dead from heart disease.

That’s probably one of the most difficult things for me to do, actually. I don’t really put a lot of thought into my own well-being and tend to burn myself out trying to take care of everyone else. Some habits are hard to break, but if they’re for the greater good, they might be worth considering.

What are you hoping to accomplish for health and fitness this year?
