A lot of people would like to drop their weight as quickly as possible. I admit, the prospect of being my ideal weight next week is attractive. However, the speed at which you lose weight will be dependent on many personal factors. On the up side, there are a few things you can do which will help in losing weight fast. Here are a few of the things I do that are beneficial.

Thing I Do for Losing Weight Fast

Keep in mind that these are the things that work best for me when it comes to losing weight. While some of them may work great for you, don’t expect everything to be helpful. Everyone’s physiology is different, and you need to find methods that are ideal for you.

  1. Keep Carbs and Fats Low
If you’re not active enough to burn through the carbs and fats you consume in any given day, they will add to your body weight. Keeping the fattening foods to a minimum may result in a quick loss as it forces your body to convert the fats already stored to promote energy. Of course, this is far more effective if you’re physically active.
  2. Increase Physical Activity
One of the best ways for losing weight fast is by increasing your activity throughout the day. Even the smallest additions could make a profound impact to your weight. Things like getting up and grabbing your own drink instead of asking the kids can be helpful. For me, I added quite a few steps throughout my day including walking up and down the stairs simply because I decided to do things for myself rather than ask someone.
  3. Drink More Water Throughout the Day
This one can be tough if you’re not used to it. Increasing your water intake does a great deal of good for the body including and increase to your metabolism. This means that drinking more water can help you shave down the extra mass you have going on. Some experts believe you should drink at least 64 ounces of water a day. Others state that it’s one ounce for every pound you weigh. In any case, more water may be just what you need. I rarely hit 64 ounces in a day, but I’ve noticed a huge difference when I drink even half of that amount.
  4. Stick to an Exercise Routine
An exercise routine is great to get into, even if you increase your physical activity. If you’re interested in losing weight fast, keeping yourself moving is one of the ways to do it. Depending on the extent of your activity, this could help you burn off several pounds over the week. My personal record is 10 inside seven days. I’m going to try and beat that record next week.
  5. Create a Music Playlist to Get You In the Mood
Motivation plays a big role in keeping your mindset focused on losing weight fast. Music can help many people get into the “mood” to keep themselves going. For instance, I have a playlist that I use when I get up in the morning that gets me in the right frame of mind. Even my alarm clock is centered around motivational music. Any tune that can get your foot thumping and the heart going could be ideal for you.
  6. Set Personal Records to Beat
I love setting personal records. It gives me something to strive for. Sure, losing 100 pounds is a great goal to have. But focusing on the personal records makes the process seem more achievable. Instead of getting upset because I didn’t lose much weight this week, I feel pride because I set a few new personal records. You can use a spreadsheet to keep track of your progress, but I use sites like Exercise.com to keep track of my personal bests.
  7. Focus on Measurements More than Weight
Although you’re into losing weight fast, try to focus more on measurements than pounds. This is because muscle weighs more than fat, and you might become discouraged if you look at the scale. My wife was getting upset at herself because she wasn’t losing weight fast. However, she was quickly losing inches. This changed her attitude and she now feels pride in what she’s accomplished.

These are only a few of the things you can do to help the speed at which you lose weight. As you’ve probably noticed, I don’t believe in diet plans, pills or surgeries. Although these things can do a world of good for people, they are just not for me. I do like some products, such as Emerge, but I try to keep the majority of my fitness centered around what I can do myself.

5 Things You Need to Keep In Mind

While humans are generally the same, everyone has different physical and mental needs. This means that certain diets, exercises and fitness goals can be dangerous for specific people. Here are a few things you need to keep in mind when losing weight fast.

Overweight People Lose Weight Faster
Those who are overweight will lose it faster than those who are skinny. I know, it may seem unfair to some. Part of this is because there is more for the body to use in order to create energy for the muscles. The less you weigh, the harder it will become to burn calories. For instances, I can burn almost twice the calories during a 15 minute exercise routine than someone who weighs 100 pounds less than I.

Pushing Too Hard Can Be Dangerous
I’ve experienced this one first hand. Pushing too hard can cause all kinds of problems in the body. For me, it was going into shock and passing out from over-exertion without eating. Shaking, loss of blood pressure and even nausea can be symptoms of trying to do too much. The odds are you’re not going to lose 20 pounds in a week and remain healthy.

Have Realistic Goals
This is one of the most influential issues for those who are into losing weight fast. Realistic goals are important to focus on, and you don’t want to set yourself up for failure. When you don’t meet a specific goal, it can be disheartening. You could easily get sucked into a motivational void because you don’t believe you can do it. Be true to yourself and set objectives that are easier to reach. Don’t assume that you can drop a ton of weight in a relatively short amount of time. On average, the human body can lose three to five pounds per week in a healthy manner. Use this as a guide.

Overweight People Still Need to Eat
I’ve seen a lot of people try to starve themselves into shape. The problem is, everyone needs to eat regardless if they are obese or not. This is because the body requires nutrients to survive. Humans don’t store various vitamins and minerals in fat. Yes, you’re body will burn away all of the cellulite in order to stay alive, but it will also begin to break down muscle mass to consume proteins. This isn’t to mention the mental issues that arise from starving yourself of nutrients.

Exercise May Be a Vital Component to Losing Weight Fast
Technically speaking, you can lose weight rather quickly by eating healthier foods and reducing your intake. However, exercise and keeping yourself active will allow the body to burn fats much quicker. I try to increase my physical activity because I want to be stronger than I am while enhancing stamina. This isn’t mandatory for weight loss, but it definitely helps.

Don’t get sucked into the idea that losing weight fast is the best way to go. Too many people focus more on instant gratification than health. Depending on how much you weigh, it could be a long process spanning more than a year. However, it’s a process that will have greater rewards in the end. You’ll feel better about yourself and develop a sense of confidence you may never have had otherwise.
