Living in Colorado, I am subject to all kinds of marijuana-infused oddities. In fact, I can say that I’ve had a few special cookies or two in the past. However, I’m not sure how I feel about cinnamon gummies. First of all, I’m not a fan of cinnamon gummy bears in the first place. But I can understand the attraction.
UPDATE 9/21/2017: So, it seems these are no longer available on the Dixie Elixirs website. I don’t know what happened, but the cinnamon gummies are gone. It will be interesting to see if they return of if it was just a limited-time type of promotion.
UPDATE 01/03/2018: Now, it seems the Dixie Elixirs website is no longer available. That’s a shame.
What is My Take On Marijuana Use?
So, 1992 was a blur to me. Way too much weed during a very weird period of my life. Unfortunately, I think something happened between then and now. It seems I am unable to handle my THC, Tetrahydrocannabinol.
Anymore, even the smell of marijuana makes me nauseous. Every hit I try to take ends in my stomach making flip-flops and a dizzy spell that makes me feel like I was in a blender set to puree.
Which is kind of a bummer seeing how marijuana use is legal now in Colorado. But, I’ve always been the type of person who needed to remain in control regardless of how stressed or depressed I became…aside from 1992 which was a year-long party.
Personally, I really don’t care what people like to smoke or eat. And, marijuana has an incredible number of benefits as opposed to other supposed illegal drugs. Living in Colorado, I can see first hand how weed use has not influenced illegal activity or increased car accidents like many nay-sayers believed it would.
Even as an employer, I had no problem with my workers having something like THC cinnamon gummies during their off-time. But when you clock in, I need your head clear – especially since we’re working with customer computers. Come in to work stoned, and I send your ass home.
What are these Cinnamon Gummies?
Browsing the Internet this morning, I stumbled across something this morning that made me a bit curious. I know that cinnamon gummies infused with THC isn’t the weirdest thing in Colorado at the moment.
I am looking at the Dixie Elixirs Edible Blazin’ Cinnamon gummies available in various locations in the Denver metro. I’m sure it’s not related to the paper plate manufacturer.
According to Dixie Elixirs, these cinnamon gummies are hand crafted and fully infused with THC. As I know a lot of people who create their own edibles, I have no doubt this is true. Even my dad cooks with “pot butter” when he makes cookies. Personally, I’m not a fan of the smell.
A lot of people like the idea of edibles for two reasons: they don’t fill the house with pot smoke and the “high” seems to last longer in most cases. Of course you have people on both sides and the point is fairly arguable. The point is, edibles work fairly well to get someone baked.
Should I take these cinnamon gummies on a hiking trip in Colorado?
Probably not. We are much higher in altitude than many places around the country. Things like alcohol and marijuana will affect you much faster here. I know this from personal experience…especially with alcohol.
In Los Angeles, I was stunned by how much more Fireball whiskey I could drink as opposed to living in Denver. It took much longer for the effects to kick in as I was at sea level. Here, it takes less than half the amount to produce the same effect.
Hiking is an excellent activity in Colorado. The mountains are incredible, especially during the spring and fall months. The last thing you want to do is lose your footing because you were too high in every sense of the word.
Besides, being under the influence in public is illegal…whether it’s alcohol or marijuana. There’s some occasions when it’s not enforced, such as the 420 gathering every April. However, don’t assume you can simply munch on a few cinnamon gummies and go shopping at the Sixteenth Street Mall.
Would you get drunk and go shopping?
Are you going to try these cinnamon gummies?
Probably not. Like I said, I have an extremely negative side effect when it comes to THC. I’m starting to wonder if I am one of those rare people who are allergic to it. I’m not sure if that is a real thing, but I know how it makes me feel…and it’s terrible.
I’ll stick to my Fireball…thank you.
Aren’t you worried children are being targeted because it’s gummy candy?
No. This is one concept that really gets my goat. When I was a cigarette smoker, I had an affinity for the flavors Camel produced. My favorite by far was the “Frost” flavor cigarettes. It was like smoking a stick of gum. But then the law makers said how it is too attractive to children.
Children are not the only ones who enjoy sweet treats. Look at America in general. According to the CDC, 36.5% of US adults are obese. And yes, sugary and tasty foods are one of the culprits. My first cigarette was an Alpine, should we ban all mountain travel? I know that’s a stretch, but come on.
In Colorado, the laws for marijuana purchases are more strict than alcohol. For one thing, you need to be 21 to even be able to walk into most dispensaries I’ve seen…which is something a lot of liquor stores do not have in place. That’s not to mention how your ID also needs to be valid.
I couldn’t walk around the store with my dad because my license was expired…even though I had no intention of buying anything.
Taking Too Much
One thing you should know about edibles is that they do take longer to take effect. Depending on your metabolism and the amount of other foods you have eaten, it can take up to a couple of hours before you start feeling the effects.
This means you don’t want to keep eating cinnamon gummies if you don’t feel the effects right away. While I have yet to hear of anyone dying from an overdose of marijuana, I do remember what it’s like to have way too much.
It’s like drinking alcohol…enjoy marijuana products in moderation.
Be Safe Where Ever You Are
Colorado isn’t the only state that allows the sale of flavorful THC candies and baked goods. Regardless of where you are, always be safe. Make sure you surround yourself with people you trust with your life. Depending on how high you get, this trust is going to be more valuable than you might realize. Be responsible in your decisions and keep yourself and everyone around you safe.
