Having a good support structure surrounding you can make a world of difference in your fitness or weight loss goals. In this episode, we talk about how support and encouragement can help you achieve some major life changes.

Unfortunately, not all of us surround ourselves with the most supportive people. Whether it’s in our personal lives or the people we interact with on social media, it just seems like there is so much hate out there for those of us who want a change.

Even some of the biggest celebrities have been met with backlash simply because they wanted to better themselves and improve their own quality of life. This just goes to show that there are a lot of people out there who hate for the sake of hating.

For example, a lot of people condemned Adele for her weight loss journey. Although it had nothing to do with her fans, they felt betrayed. Mostly like, it was because they felt no longer capable of relating to the singer.

Why does it matter?

If you want to lose weight for any reason, it’s really no one’s business. And no, you’re not “fatphobic” because you want to drop the weight.

Some of us do it because we want to live longer. Not to mention the improvement in quality of life.

Find Support and Encouragement

If you’re unable to find support and encouragement in your circle of “friends,” you can always take to certain online groups. Despite how I feel about Facebook being a dumpster fire, there are quite a few groups on that platform full of people who focus on boosting others instead of tearing them down.

In any case, if someone isn’t being supportive or encouraging you to do better, perhaps you should consider cutting them out. Or, at the very least, limit your exposure to them. It can be hard, sometimes. But the alternative is being stuck in a rut with someone constantly belittling what you want to accomplish.

Do You Have a Support Structure in Place?

One of the reasons why we do what we do on YouTube and the blog is to help others. If you feel you can’t find support and encouragement, come hang out with us. We’re always open to interacting with new folk on the YouTube channel or in the comments.

You have allies here.

Regardless, surround yourself with people who will support your decisions. And don’t worry about the trolls. Some people just want to see the world burn because they’re too pathetic in their own lives to make a difference.
