How often do you obsess about food? For many of us, it’s part of the cause of why we’ve gained so much weight. In this episode of Fitness in Theory, we talk about obsessions and what we’ve done to tackle them.

We also share some of our healthier alternatives to those foods. For example, there are a lot of different types of healthier pizzas, should that be your Achilles heal.

Obsessing About Food

Having a food obsession makes dieting incredibly difficult. Especially if you have absolutely no willpower when someone brings up Taco Bell. Luckily, there are ways to manage those obsessions.

One of the things we like to do is come up with alternative recipes that are lower in carbs and calories. And tonight, we got quite a few ideas for some recipes to add to the site down the road.

Sometimes, you can simply shut down an obsession without much effort. For instance, I haven’t opened a jar of peanut butter in over two months. And peanut butter is a major food obsession for me.

I just decided I was done and that was that. Though, it’s not always cut and dried. Sometimes, it can take an incredible amount of effort to curb those obsessions, especially if they’re tied to habitual behaviors.

For example, I am a stress eater. And my food of choice is either peanut butter or Taco Bell. Despite being stressed to my limits recently, I’ve been able to sustain myself from obsessing about those goodies.

For me, it all came down to the simple decision of being “done.”

Do You Have an Obsession with Some Foods?

Keep in mind that an obsession is something you absolutely can’t live without. One of my biggest obsessions is coffee, and I have a lot of stuff in my house to prove it. Nonetheless, just because you really like something a lot doesn’t necessarily mean you’re obsessed.

Try not to read too much into simply liking something.

What foodstuffs can you literally not live without?
