The Internet is full of different ways you can diet to lose weight. But which one is the best diet overall? Well, that depends on what works best for you. Today, we are matching up Sam’s dirty keto diet against my calorie counting.
The stakes? Whoever loses the most weight in 4 weeks gets $100. And this will be shared live during the Tuesday’s podcasts on YouTube.
Why Pit Keto Against Calorie Counting?
In reality, this is more of a fun challenge between Sam and me. Although we are betting real money in this case, it’s more of a way to motivate each other to hit our health and fitness goals.
The bottom line is that any diet has the potential to help you lose weight. It really comes down to what keeps you motivated and interested in continuing.
For example, I’ve lost the most weight simply by reducing my caloric intake. Whereas Sam does exceptionally well with Keto. She’s tried counting calories but can’t seem to do very well with that type of diet.
And that’s fine. Everyone is going to have that one plan that works exceptionally well. We are all different and have unique goals and aspirations.
Meet the Challengers!
Remember, this is a friendly contest…with a $100 stake. So, being the competitive individual I am, it’s time to open up a keg of whoop-ass.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not doubting Sam’s ability to drop weight. I’m just fairly confident in my abilities.
Like any battle, it’s time to meet the challengers.
Sam the Amazon
Sam is quite a bit larger than I, which means she’ll drop weight at a much faster pace. That’s because people who are larger tend to burn fat faster than someone who is closer to their ideal weight.
Plus, if she sticks to her keto diet, we know for a fact that she can lose at an exceptionally quick pace. But that’s the rub, really; being able to sustain her keto diet.
Though, she has been known to upset contenders in the last few rounds. So, we’ll have to see how she ends the challenge.
Doing keto myself for a few weeks, I know how effective it can be for weight loss. Though, I did have a few rough moments that made it more difficult to finish.
Still, there’s no denying that a low-carb intake is quite fruitful. Especially for someone who isn’t nearly as physically active.
Just Little Ol’ Me
In the other corner, we have me. My advantage is that I am a man, and men tend to lose weight faster than women. Well, that also depends on a variety of factors.
Still, in the past, I’ve been able to demonstrate that I can drop fat faster than Sam. That is as long as I maintain my actual diet plan.
Between my Net 600 Calorie diet and increasing physical activity, I should drop more than half a pound per day. However, I often tend to fall off the wagon relatively easily.
Yet, there’s also no denying that counting calories has worked exceptionally well for me. In fact, it’s how I’ve lost 80 pounds while keeping it off…for the most part.
Like Sam, though, my disadvantage is motivation. But with $100 on the line, I’ll definitely make her work for her money.
The Rules of the Match
So, the rules of the match are pretty simple. Sam will do her version of the keto diet while I am focusing on my Net 600 Calorie diet plan.
Whoever loses the most weight in 4 weeks wins.
May 17th, we’ll announce our results during the live stream on CrossingColorado’s YouTube channel. Though, we’ll provide updates and how we’re doing periodically.
That is as long as we remember to do so. I’m pretty bad at giving daily updates, but I’ll try to keep you guys in the loop.
It’s a relatively straightforward, who-can-lose-the-most bet.
Keto, Paleo, Calorie Counting…You Are in Control
All kidding aside, diet plans of all kinds can be used to get healthy and fit. The trick is to find one that you enjoy and are able to maintain. That’s one of the biggest reasons why a lot of people fail at their diets.
When you approach something with a negative mindset, you’re already sabotaging success. You’ll put in less effort while assuming it’s going to fail.
If you go into any diet plan with an open mind and a positive attitude, you’re more likely to lose weight and continue the plan.
Your mentality in anything, whether it’s the keto diet or calorie counting, influences the decisions you make. Of course, this is true in just about everything in life.
Exercises and working out can also be influenced by your attitude. If you hate running, you’re less likely to keep doing it even if you’re on a treadmill. But if you love cycling, you’re more likely to jump on a bike and crank out a few miles.
When it comes to weight loss and getting healthy, you are in absolute control. It’s up to you to achieve those aspirations, though. You are only accountable to yourself, which makes it more difficult for many of us to succeed.
I know I have my days when I’m just like, “eh, fuck it.”
You gotta find a way to avoid that mindset. Otherwise, you’ll do nothing but spin your wheels, not getting anywhere in life.
What Diets Works Best for You?
For me, my Net 600 calorie diet works best. I don’t feel restricted, and I can usually stay active enough to burn carbs from various snacks. However, what works best for me might not work for you.
Sam has her best moments while on keto when she actually follows through. Even on a dirty keto, she’ll still slim down relatively quickly. Everyone is different. You just gotta find what keeps you focused and moving forward.
So, what kinds of diets have you tried, and which have been the most successful for losing weight and getting healthy?
Hey Michael and Sam, good luck to both of you. You guys are gonna kick ass on this challenge!
I was doing pretty good on weight loss myself – lost 15 lbs last month and about 25 since my heaviest back around Christmas. And I wasn’t really even trying to stick with any particular diet. I guess just trying to NOT overeat was my only real strategy idk. But then I levelled off and even gained back a few pounds this month. So I’m hoping to restart my weight loss too.
Anyway, looking forward to the updates. GO GO GO!!!
Well, at least you’re still down from where you were, right? It’s still a move in the right direction. Just gotta keep it going! You got this.
