I’m always on the lookout for alternatives to snacking that have fewer calories and more health benefits. Today, I’m looking closer at the Arctic Zero Chocolate Peanut Butter Fit Frozen Dessert. Although this snack may have potential for health, I find it a bit north of disappointing.

What Is Arctic Zero Chocolate Peanut Butter Dessert?

I have spent a great deal of time looking for chocolate peanut butter ice cream that doesn’t have either an incredible price tag or high number of calories. Unfortunately, my search continues for a product that comes close to Farr’s Ice Cream in Utah.

The Arctic Zero Chocolate Peanut Butter Fit Frozen Dessert is an ice cream substitute that centers around health. It’s free of fat, GMOs, lactose and gluten. It’s also low-glycemic, which means it has a lower sugar content than traditional ice cream.

This product is an alternative for those who want to experience a similar dessert without the extra components that go into making it. But to be honest, I’ve had chocolate peanut butter vapor that had more taste than this.

If you’re in need of a substitute that lacks gluten, lactose and flavor, then this may be something worth looking into.

Why Should You Want this Product?

I can see how the Arctic Zero Chocolate Peanut Butter frozen dessert may be great for those who are overly cautious about health. After all, it’s free of all the things a lot of people are trying to avoid. However, I’m not one of them.

The overall texture was anything but creamy, as opposed to the product’s label. It was more like eating chocolate peanut butter flavored ice. It was definitely high in water content and had very little in the way of texture. I am of the belief that my particular pint may have simply been re-frozen after being melted.

For those who use whey protein powders, though, this may be a great product. Each serving of the snack includes 3g of protein. And because you can eat the entire pint without feeling bad about the calorie intake, you can consume 12g of protein in one sitting. This is roughly the equivalent of some types of beef jerky.

I can see how this might be a good snack to have after a workout routine or weight training. It’s a light edible that promotes protein and potassium, elements that are quickly absorbed into the blood stream because of how thin this dessert is.

One of the biggest disappointments for me was the lacking of actual peanut butter. I know that this is everything-free, but I love peanut butter in my chocolate ice cream. Alas, this was more akin to flavored water than a creamy dessert.

Don’t get me wrong, I can see how this product would be very appealing to those who need to stay away from gluten or high-sugar content. In fact, this is probably a great product for my dad and his girlfriend. However, I am not one who needs to shy away from such elements.

What Kind of Health Benefits Are In this Product?

The biggest thing that caught my eye is how Arctic Zero Chocolate Peanut Butter dessert is only 35 calories per serving. Each serving is 1/2 cup. If you eat the whole pint, it’s only 150 calories in total. This is considerably lower than most other frozen snacks you may come across.

Because it’s made with whey protein powder, this frozen dessert is a good alternative for those who are looking to lose weight while working on muscle toning.

As for nutritional value, this ice-cream-alternative has a bit of calcium, phosphorous and magnesium all ranging at around 2% of your daily value per serving. What catches my eye is the low sodium and high potassium content. Both of these numbers are ranging at around the 65mg area per serving.

In reality, the whole pint of the Arctic Zero Chocolate Peanut Butter frozen dessert consists of almost half of the potassium as a medium-sized banana. This is important considering how most people are deficient in potassium to begin with.

Will It Work to Help Lose Weight?

After eating the whole pint, I felt as though I simply drank flavored water. There wasn’t much in the way of being a solid let alone a cream, so I suspect that it went through me pretty quick. From a weight-loss standpoint, this is probably ideal. However, I might get the same effect if I just had a chocolate peanut butter protein shake.

It’s ultra-low calorie, sugar, and carbohydrate content make it a good alternative if you’re looking to lose weight. If you don’t get a lot of physical activity or if you’re trying to melt away the inches and want something other than water, you might want to try this product.

Personally, I would rather have something more rich and then go for a two-mile power walk to burn off what I just ate. However, not everyone may have the capacity nor the metabolism to do so and still lose inches. In that case, this is better than nothing at all if you want to try something unique.

Where Can You Get It?

I picked up my Arctic Zero Chocolate Peanut Butter frozen dessert from the local Walmart. However, I suspect that you can find this product in most grocery stores and perhaps some convenience stores. I’ve seen it around for quite some time, I just never thought to try it until now.

Here is my overall breakdown of It:
I am hoping that my pint was simply the aftermath of being freezer burnt or re-frozen after being melted. Otherwise, this was perhaps one of the worst tasting alternatives to ice cream I’ve come across. I’m not saying it was gross by any means…it simply didn’t have the same kick as something like Haggen Das.

I have tasted other healthy alternatives that at least had a creamy texture. This one…not so much.

Based on the images I’ve seen from others of this product, I am leaning towards the idea that my pint may have been simply a bad batch. If I do try this product again in the future and it turns out to be “creamy,” I will surely update this review.

Keep in mind that my experience may be different from yours. You may love this product. This review is simply my personal experience with Arctic Zero Chocolate Peanut Butter fit frozen dessert, a product I will think twice about before buying again.
