Looking for a snack of peanut butter and chocolate that isn’t loaded with calories? While lacking in overall taste and texture, the Powerful Bites Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip snacks are a healthy-ish alternative. However, I was a bit disappointed in the product.

It just didn’t have that right mixture of peanut butter to chocolate that I love. And I’m not really thrilled on the misleading message on the package itself.

What Are Powerful Bites Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Snacks?

For those who love peanut butter but are looking for a healthier alternative, this may be a product to interest you.

The container comes with roughly 18 to 20 small, bite-sized bits that are made up of peanut butter, whey protein powder and stevia for sweetness. Each serving is roughly three of these Powerful Bites peanut butter bits.

It’s a quick snack if you need something to tide you over until lunch or dinner.

Why Should You Want Powerful Bites Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip?

While I do appreciate the peanut butter taste in this product, the chocolate is a bit on the disappointing side. To keep the calories, sugars and carbs down, the manufacturer uses unsweetened chocolate.

Which has quite a distinct taste by itself.

While these peanut butter protein balls are low carb, I’m not convinced the product is something that is worthwhile. But remember, everyone is different. You might like the taste and enjoy the product.

This is all based on my personal experience with Powerful Bites.

Made with Natural Ingredients

One thing I can say is the Powerful Bites peanut butter snack is made with natural ingredients. Pure coconut oil, apple sauce and a few other components make up these bites. As a result, you’re putting less junk into the body.

Misleading Brand Practices?

Now for the misleading part. On the package, the Powerful Bites peanut butter snack touts 20g of protein. At first glance, you’d think it was per serving. Not at all. In fact, a serving of three bits only has 5g of protein in it.

If you read the fine print under the “20g Protein” label, which I didn’t do until after I bought it, the container reads, “Per 4 Servings.” Kind of an odd statement to make, especially since the entire container holds about six servings.

A bit shady of a practice, if you ask me. As most people won’t read the fine print when buying a product, the manufacturer banks on this and words it to make Powerful Bites seem like a wonder-protein snack.

I know a lot of companies fudge their labeling, but this was quite blatant in my opinion.

Acquired Taste and Texture

The overall taste and texture of the Powerful Bites Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip snack reminds me of when we tried to make our own peanut butter bars with whey protein. They have a bit of a gritty texture to them, more than you’d expect from a peanut butter product.

If you’re looking for a good chocolate chip taste, keep looking. Perhaps the biggest disappointment to this product is the sheer lack of chocolate flavor. The manufacturer could simply change the label to just Peanut Butter and no one would know the difference.

Personally, I don’t mind the texture too much. It does have that whey protein powder taste mixed with the peanut butter. But it’s nothing that would really drive me away. No, a lack of chocolate will drive me away from a “chocolate chip” product.

Cheap Snack, If You Can Stick to Portion Sizes

One of the reasons why this snack “appears” healthy is the sheer serving size. It’s a small amount of food for a cheap price. Which is probably why it has a cheap taste.

I pride myself on being able to stick to suggested serving sizes. But it was far more difficult for the Powerful Bites peanut butter snack. Although I was able to maintain, there are far better alternatives on the market…even if they are a bit more expensive.

For me, it all boils down to quality versus price. And I’d rather spend $0.68 per Tiger’s Milk bar with superior taste and fulfillment from Amazon.

However, I can see how some out there may appreciate a much lighter and cheaper way to eat healthily. After all, not everyone can throw $32.99 into Amazon for a couple of boxes of Tiger’s Milk bars.

The Powerful Bites peanut butter container is much cheaper in comparison.

What Kind of Health Benefits Are In It?

Powerful Bites One Serving

In this container of Powerful Bites Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, each serving is about 120 calories. Each serving is also about 25g in weight, which breaks down to about three bits. And yes, I weighed it out.

Now, 120 calories is pretty good for a snack. That is until you take into consideration the size of the serving is pretty small. Compare it to something like a Tiger’s Milk Peanut Butter protein bar.

For just a few more calories, you get far more substance, protein and various vitamins. And with good chocolate-covered peanut butter taste in the Tiger’s Milk brand.

The only solid benefit I can see is the price per serving. This breaks down to roughly $0.50 each. Frankly, I’d rather pay the price of a Tiger’s Milk bar to get the flavor and vitamin boost.

Will It Work to Help Lose Weight?

As long as you can eat something in moderation and monitor your portion sizes, almost anything can help you lose weight. But if you’re satisfied after eating a serving of these, then it may help.

Mostly this is because of the whey protein powder and how it influences the body.

From personal experience, the Powerful Bites peanut butter snack did take the edge off snacking. But then again, there are far more pronounced products that do a better job.

That hardest part is sticking to the proper portion sizes. Even if something appears healthy, you can still rack up the calories by eating too much. It’s all about burning more than you consume.

And since you can just grab as many as you’d like from the package, you need to monitor intake closely with this product.

Another aspect you need to consider is how these peanut butter protein balls are low carb. So if you don’t do a lot of physical activity or require glycogen to power a workout, the snack might be right up your alley.

Where Can You Get Powerful Bites Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip?

I picked this container up from my local Walmart. Although it was only $2.98 per container, I still feel my money would have been better spent elsewhere.

The price is right, but the quality was a bit less than par.

Unfortunately, I cannot currently find it on Amazon to give you a price comparison.

What’s the Bottom Line?

For those who are on a strict diet and want a peanut butter snack, this may be a good one to try. But don’t expect a quality chocolate taste. And although the product is only $0.50 per serving, the amount you get is just not worth it for me.

Then again, I suppose you get what you pay for.
