I stumbled upon Turkey Perky Jerky while standing in line at Walmart. Since I love jerky in most forms, I decided to grab a bag. Let me start out by stating just how impressed I was with the product as a whole. Normally, I prefer teriyaki beef flavored alternatives. However, this is definitely one of my favorite brands. Let’s delve into what makes this product great for those looking to lose weight.

What Is Turkey Perky Jerky?

Turkey Perky Jerky is just as it sounds – a snack that may have some perks to eating healthy with turkey. Today, I am looking at the original flavor turkey variant of the product – mostly because the Walmart up here is kinda crappy and doesn’t stock the others. So far, I’ve only seen this product in the two-serving bag sizes at the register. It doesn’t look like there are any other sizes on the company’s website as from Jammin’ Jamaican. However, that might change as its popularity grows.

Why Should You Want It?

For those who love moist and soft meats, this is the end-all, be-all for your pallet. Turkey Perky Jerky is one of the most amazing products I’ve eaten in terms of jerked snack treats. I didn’t have to struggle to break off a piece, it’s incredibly easy to chew and the flavor just pops in your mouth like droplets of turkey heaven. Yes, I believe it’s that good.

Gluten-Free
Turkey Perky Jerky is gluten-free. For those who are allergic to this substance or on diets that limit your gluten intake, you can rest easy knowing that there are excellent snacking methods at your disposal.

Low Calories Per Serving
A serving of this product is roughly one ounce. In reality, this is quite a bit when you measure it out. There are only 80 calories per serving. The bag is actually meant for two, but eating the whole thing at once has less calories and carbs than a single oatmeal creme pie from Little Debbie.

High Protein
There is 10g of protein in every serving of Turkey Perky Jerky. Although there are products out there that may have more, this is quite a bit considering it’s made of turkey and not beef. This works to promote energy, muscle development and has been linked to improving focus and concentration. In some studies, a higher protein count in the morning greatly altered how people approach the day in terms of overall mood, energy levels and mental acuity.

It may be important to note that because this product is so juicy, the body is better equipped to break down the nutrients and proteins at a much quicker pace. This is because dense and dry foods could take up to three hours to be fully digested. This is also the reason why it’s important to drink more water when eating any foods.

All Natural
Perky Jerky claims that the product is “All Natural.” In fact, reading the ingredients is more like looking over a recipe you can do at home rather than a science experiment. Unlike other snacks, I can pronounce every component within this food type. There are no preservatives, no added MSG and it uses “windowless” packaging in order to keep the meats fresh and moist. From what I’ve tasted, it’s a plan that’s working.

What Kind of Health Benefits Are In Turkey Perky Jerky?

In reality, any jerky can offer some of the best health benefits in terms of dieting. Since Turkey Perky Jerky offers 0.5g total fat, 0 saturated fat, 8g of carbs and 7g of sugars, it’s an excellent alternative to some of the more sugar-laden snacks that are out there. Here are a few of the pros and cons I’ve found when trying out this product.

Pros:

  • Incredibly soft – I hate having to tear into a piece of jerky.
  • Moist – I also have a penchant for juices in meats.
  • Strong taste
  • Resealable bag
  • Made in the USA!

Cons:

  • Costs a bit more than other brands of jerky
  • Most flavors don’t come in larger bags
  • Low availability – at least in my area
  • A bit high in sodium, but so is most jerky snacks

Will It Work to Help Lose Weight?

When you compare Turkey Perky Jerky to other snack foods, it can be a very healthy alternative when you just need something to take off the edge of hunger. Although it doesn’t promote fat-burning capabilities, it’s high protein count deliversĀ a boost to energy without worrying about a significant number of carbs. I do need to note that this product includes soy. If you have allergens to soy or need to stay away from it for other reasons, you’ll want to find something else to snack on.

Where Can You Get It?

I don’t know if Turkey Perky Jerky is available at all stores. But I know it’s available at Walmart in Colorado. Personally, I only buy perhaps one pouch a week or so only because I normally don’t have a lot of money to spare. If you’re curious, there is a store locator on the website. Coincidentally, you can also order the product from the website either in single bags or multipack boxes. This might just save you a bit of money at the register, especially if you buy several bags at once.

I love all kinds of jerky. Although I am mostly attracted to teriyaki flavors, the original recipe for Turkey Perky Jerky was nothing short of amazing. If you haven’t tried it yet, I suggest you do. While it may be a bit more expensive per ounce, the flavor is far worth it. I also appreciate how the company donates money to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and Down Syndrome. You’re not just getting a good snack with your money, you’re also helping others with each purchase.
