Week 2 H4H: Gained 0.6 Pounds This Week, Sigh…

Week 2 and Gained Some

It’s been another busy week as we continue to clean up Grandpa’s basement. It’s insane how much stuff we had to throw away or recycle. Needless to say, I didn’t get as much exercise or gym time as I wanted.

I am mentally and physically exhausted. It’s like a non-stop grinding that continues to reveal one layer after another of things that need to be cleaned up or put into storage.

On the upside, we can actually see about 25% of the basement floor now, which is far more than was visible a week ago. But there is still so much more to do. I really should have taken a before picture.

Another bonus is how the basement doesn’t wreak like it did a few weeks ago.

Anyway, I didn’t really put much thought into Hot 4 Halloween this week due to the sheer amount of cleaning we’ve done. I can’t really say that I wasted my time considering how much better the house looks.

So, even though I put 0.6 pounds back on, I’m not overly frustrated or upset. Soon, the house will be in great condition. And that is worth a lot for my future sanity.

What’s the Plan for Week 3?

OK, I haven’t been doing as well as I could have over the last couple of weeks. I was hoping for a clean start before Halloween, but alas, chaos takes no holiday.

As I said, though, at least I’m getting my house put back into order. And that’s going to impact my stress in profound ways for the better – once it’s done. This week will be all about building momentum again.

Get back on Track

First of all, I need to get back on track with my Net 600 diet as well as exercise routines. I haven’t been too bad when it comes to eating, but I haven’t been burning more than I consume.

Even as I get ready to go play golf with Dad in a couple of hours, I’m going to be strict with keeping the calories in the green. I’ll probably wind up eating a few carb-rich things on the course, but I will end the day burning twice the calories I consume – damnit!

Now that the bulk of the bad stuff is out of the basement, I can relax a bit and focus on some stuff for myself.

Heh…yeah…relax…

Figure Out a Stretching Routine

When I tried to pull the toilet out of the basement and up the stairs (long story), I put way too much strain on my right hip. It was at that moment that I knew I was going to hurt later. That’s what happens when you don’t stretch.

I haven’t done much stretching at all for the past, what, 48 years? And it’s starting to really make an impact on me as I continue to age.

That’s one of the nice things about getting a chunk of the basement cleaned up. I can roll out the mat now and stretch a bit every day. That is as long as I remember to do so. I need to make it a regular habit, like going to the gym has become.

Playing the Oculus Again

Again, that section of the basement is going to be put to good use as I bring my Oculus down to play. After buying my new bedroom set (which filled my room) and moving a bunch of stuff into the living room while cleaning, I haven’t had the room to play anything this past week.

I still haven’t set up the spreadsheet to record new data with the Fitbit Charge 6.

Unfortunately, I probably won’t be able to play the Kinect for a while yet. The tentative plan is to bring all of the game systems to the basement, but I’m worried I won’t have enough room down here to play.

When I play Kinect Tennis, I play tennis! I am all over the place with over-exaggerated movements, which is how I burn so many calories playing the Xbox. But now, I’ll have to contend with a load-bearing beam in the middle of the room.

It’s Gonna Be a Busy Week…Again

I still have quite a bit on my plate, between getting the house organized and getting back to writing. Plus, I need to sit down and really hammer out a schedule for YouTube, now that I have members joining the WriterSanctuary channel. It’s going to be a busy one, that is for sure.

As long as I can squirrel away some time for me, I should be able to handle week three without an issue. Well, and be mindful of how much I’m eating versus how much I’m burning.

You can create the most elaborate plans and have the most ideal goals for your situation. But none of it means much if you don’t put in the effort to see them through. And sometimes, that means pushing yourself pretty hard to achieve those elements, especially the ones you want most.
